Gretchen
comes from a long line of artists and, as a child, she assisted her father
(and served as his model) at his photography studio. Her mother was an
artist with the needle and two of her uncle's were sculptors, and a cousin
is a writer
Taking
pictures of old doorways is her passion and she has a large collection
of these that were taken over the years, throughout the world. In St.
Louis she spends time at "The Garden" or at the gardens of friends
to photograph flowers. Either at home or abroad, she always has her camera
ready to shoot!
In the fall of 2000, there was an opportunity to exhibit her photos, enlarged
and framed, at "Library Limited" (now "Border's Books"
at Brentwood Square). The
pictures assembled throughout this website were all taken at the Missouri
Botanical Garden. The clarity comes from the fact that she has an "eye"
for just the right angle and light, and she has an excellent camera
with German lenses.
